Chemistry Lab
The NCPA geothermal facility maintains an Environmental Testing
Laboratory on site. The laboratory is certified (Certificate Number
2106) by the State of California Department of Health Services (DOHS)
Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) for the analysis
of the heavy metals vanadium, arsenic and mercury in liquids and solids.
Maintaining certification requires that the lab adhere to strict record
keeping mandated by the ELAP program, as well as passing biennial
on-site inspections by the DOHS and successfully analyzing blind samples
submitted by both the DOHS and US Environmental Protection Agency.
The NCPA lab conducts certified mercury, vanadium and arsenic
analyses daily on its state of the art Atomic Absorption
Spectrophotometer not only for its own needs, but for other entities as
well. The lab utilizes EPA Methods 7470, 7471, 7910 and 7911, as well as
California Title 22 in performing these analyses. NCPA's rountine
analysis for these metals has allowed NCPA to develop an expertise in
this area. In addition to expert analysis, the NCPA lab offers rapid
turnaround of results at competitive rates.
Companies requiring the services of a certified laboratory proficient
in the determination of mercury, arsenic or vanadium concentrations in
solid or liquid samples may want to consider the NCPA laboratory. Please
